Supporting a maritime milestone in sustainability

MCB is proud to have supported the construction of Captain Arctic, a pioneering polar expedition vessel recently completed by Mauritius-based shipbuilder CNOI. Designed for zero environmental impact and equipped with photovoltaic sails, this vessel represents a major leap forward in sustainable maritime technology and responsible tourism.

Our involvement in this visionary project falls under MCB’s Sustainable Trade Finance initiative. By providing a tailored trade finance solution, we helped bring to life a project that blends innovation with environmental commitment — right here in the Indian Ocean.

This achievement was made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of our team, including Aldo Sydonie, Head of Mauritian and Regional Corporates, Dave Khelawon, Team Leader / Executive Vice President - Corporate and Institutional Banking, and Arnaud Levasseur, Executive - Corporate and Institutional Banking. Their combined expertise and leadership were instrumental in structuring and delivering a financing solution aligned with the vessel’s sustainability objectives.
