The completion of Captain Arctic — a groundbreaking polar expedition vessel built by Mauritius-based shipbuilder Chantier Naval de l’Ocean Indien (CNOI) — is more than a technological achievement; it’s a powerful symbol of African craftsmanship and innovation on the global stage.

Designed with minimal environmental impact and powered by advanced photovoltaic sails, Captain Arctic embodies the values of responsible tourism and energy-efficient engineering. This project marks a bold shift in Africa’s trade narrative — from raw material exports to complex, high-value manufacturing that meets global standards.
