MCB Football Academy: 15 years of unflinching commitment

The MCB Football Academy (MCBFA) celebrated its 15th birthday on Saturday, 21^st September 2024. The official ceremony was held at the Côte d'Or National sports complex in the presence of the athletes and their parents. In its 15 years of existence, MCBFA has had a positive impact on the lives of children and their communities, with no less than 10,000 individuals, children, and parents, being provided with the tools necessary for their holistic development.

Seven football academies in Mauritius and Rodrigues

The MCB Forward Foundation (MCBFF) launched the first football academy of its kind in 2008 at St Hilaire., Since then, six more academies, , four in Mauritius (Cassis, Camp Le Vieux, and Poste de Flacq) and three in Rodrigues (Patate Théophile, Petite Butte and Roseaux) were born. These academies ensure that young people not only develop as athletes, but also as responsible and balanced individuals, with the required skills and values for their future.

10,000 individuals impacted in 15 years

The MCBFA aims to promote holistic child development through football and education. Over the past 15 years, nearly 5,000 children have enrolled in the various academies of Mauritius and Rodrigues. A parents' school has also been created to better train parents to provide adequate support to their children. Over 120 parents and 100 children from MCBFA members have benefited from this training.

2018: Enter the Elite

The MCB Football Academy has also expanded its activities with the creation of the MCBFA Elite in 2018, which welcomes young people aged 13 to 17. Young people are selected for more advanced training to join other academies such as the Liverpool Football Academy or the Centre Technique National. The Elite groups from Mauritius and Rodrigues train at MCB Club and Patate Théophile and Grande Montagne respectively.

MCB Group’s continued commitment

The Group’s commitment and contribution to education is aligned with its Success Beyond Numbers philosophy. And it is in line with this philosophy that the MCB Forward Foundation has developed the MCBFA; a community project, which aims to promote holistic development of children through football and education.
