MCB Microfinance: 10 years of empowering entrepreneurship

Since 2016, MCB Microfinance has supported 4,339 entrepreneurs, financing more than 9,300 projects and disbursing over Rs 2.2 billion. 

MCB Microfinance is celebrating its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of supporting micro-entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals across Mauritius and Rodrigues. Established on 15 July 2016 to improve access to finance, the institution has accompanied 4,339 entrepreneurial journeys, financed 9,321 projects and disbursed more than Rs 2.2 billion to date.

Over the past decade, MCB Microfinance has continuously adapted its offering to meet the evolving needs of entrepreneurs. From supporting small business development and working capital requirements to launching Start-up Loans in 2020, the institution has helped thousands of Mauritians and Rodriguans turn ideas into sustainable businesses. To date, 226 Start-up Loans have been granted, representing Rs 21.3 million in financing.

Its commitment to inclusive growth is also reflected in Rodrigues, where 1,002 loans totalling Rs 167.8 million have been disbursed since operations began on the island.

The organisation has reached several key milestones in recent years, including surpassing Rs 1 billion in cumulative disbursements in 2022, digitalising its loan application process in 2024 and crossing the Rs 2 billion mark in 2025.
